The Fitness Buff radio show debuted on October 21, 2005 on an AM radio station in Tampa Bay. After developing a national online following through that station's Web site and the show's aggressive marketing, The Fitness Buff moved to BlogTalkRadio in February of 2008. It's heard live each Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. Eastern Time. Each show is archived on The Fitness Buff's BlogTalk site.
Each week, the show features interviews with leading authorities in the health and fitness industry, including best-selling authors, trainers, nutritionists, race directors, journalists, physicians, fitness equipment manufacturers, and athletes, to help listeners live longer, live fitter, and live better.
The show is hosted by PETE WILLIAMS, a longtime fitness enthusiast, triathlete and journalist who is the co-author of several fitness books. He teamed up with noted trainer Mark Verstegen to write the top-selling book Core Performance, which since its publication in 2004 has revolutionized the way people work out. Verstegen, who trains many elite and professional athletes at his four Athletes' Performance Institutes around the country, pioneered the core training movement, which emphasizes the hips, shoulders, and torso region. Rather than following the familiar trend of working body parts, Verstegen shows clients and readers how they can create more functional strength, power, lean mass, and prevent injuries and long-term deterioration through core training.
Williams again teamed up with Verstegen to write Core Performance Essentials, a streamlined version of Core Performance written for time-pressed individuals, released in 2006. Their third book Core Performance Endurance, written for runners, cyclists, swimmers, and triathletes, was released earlier this year. Core Performance Golf was published in February of 2008.
Williams - the "multimedia man of fitness" - has worked in all aspects of journalism. A former USA Today sportswriter, he's written for numerous publications, worked in television and radio, and written four non-fitness books. For more information, visit his official Web site.
Williams is joined frequently by co-host SABRINA VIZZARI, a health and fitness advocate who has worked in marketing for several Tampa Bay area companies, along with a rotating cast of guest co-hosts. The show often is broadcast remotely from the sites of our Fitness Buff partner businesses.
